So, yeah, I got the book the day after it came out, because I happened to be in a target. They cut the prices by nearly 2/3s of that crazy 30+ or whatever it was. I finished the book about 2 hours after our flight landed in the Philippines, on the way to our grandmother's house/aunt's house/family headquarters. And this scene always bothered the hell out of me.
You don't hug someone with poisonous spikes in their arms, ESPECIALLY after you JUST SAID that there is NO ANTIDOTE except for something that will never come back to the area you're at EVER AGAIN. And Hermione's supposed to be the smart one.
So yeah, whenever I come across something silly like this, I'll make a little 4 panel comic for it, under this new title: "How It Should Have Been".
Sketches done as margin doodles in my Calculus notes (bad Francis!). Lineart, colouring, text, text bubbles, and everything, really, was done in Inkscape.
As for what I thought of the book in general... I didn't really like the inclusion of a heretofore unknown set of magical plot devices at the last minute. It was a bit of a stretch as far as retconning goes. The only thing that had to do with death in that trio was the stone. And I was looking forward to seeing how the veil that killed Sirius was going to play out. But it didn't.
LOL!! I just love how she dies with a BLARGH!! It amuses me to no end XD XD
I must say, that certainly doesn't make sense to glomp people while they're holding pointy objects XD

I likes my Inkscape. It's fun, though either it's not quite capable of some sort of gradient effects that I want (like having one point as a colour, but having it as another colour by the time it reaches any edge, rather than gradienting at a consistent/circular rate), or I'm just unable to achieve it (probably the latter, seeing some of the things others've pulled off).

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

The photonotes.org Dictionary of Film and Digital Photography is one place to stop and get it all answered. This is quite a valuable resource that explains in depth what a photography term means, and will help those understand who might not know what something is.
